NDP 2009 - NE Show - 18th July 2009

Met up with Jack at around 2pm to visit the site for this year NDP 2009 to check out the network equipments used this year. This might well be the last time we support the event on site as our technical expertise might no longer be needed =(

Nevertheless we took this opportunity to go around the site and took pictures ...

The crowd starts to come in gradually followed by the children at around 5pm ...


The happy children started to fill the Marina Platform so did the 3 photographers ;p


As usual The Red Lions started off the event ...


Followed by the mock Anti-Terrorist exercise to display different defensive system Singapore possesses ...

The show ended with a bang as the rumored "60% of actual day" fireworks was fired to lighten the dark skies ...


Me, Jack, Roland and Yong Shin ended our day at Marina with a dinner at Kenny Rogers before heading our way home ...

~ Nasi Lemak Day ~ 17th July 2009

Woke up early at around 6:45am as boss wanted us to attend HP software solution to automated operations services aka Business Technology Optimization (BTO).

We meet up at around 8am at city hall before heading for NUSS Suntec City - Guild House - The College. It was a very pleasant looking place to hold a seminar but the space was rather small to hold anymore than 20 odd participants.

Breakfast provided was not to our liking hence we went to Mac Donald to setting it ...


The seminar ended at about noon which was about time for Jack & I to meet Alex for the Nasi Lemak treat that he had arranged for us earlier ...


The chili plus the nasi lemak prepared was great stuff just that the fish can be improved by frying it more crispy ;p

All of us enjoyed the food and chit chat session, after which the WASS team proceed for gaming session at Gaming Haven while the rest of us left for our own walk walk session.

CosFeast VIII - 11th July 2009

Meet up with Nicholas and Alvin at White Sands for lunch before we head out to Downtown East for the annual cosplay event in Singapore the CosFest VIII. We reached the location at about 1pm and the snapping of photos was non-stop since then on ....



At around 2pm the karaoke contest was carried out while we snap away with the nice songs being sang out by the contestants...

We finally stopped at around 6pm when we made our way back to White Sands for a cup of coffee at Coffee Club before ending the day ...

Kota Kinabalu Trip - 2nd to 5th July 2009

2nd July 2009 1800hrs, we made our way to Singapore's Budget Terminal for our flight Tiger Airway's TR484 which is bound to depart at 2020hrs.

Everyone arrived to meet up for dinner at Mac Donald's within the airport departure hall and Da sao took a group photo for us.



We reached Sabah's Kota Kinabalu Terminal 2 arrival hall at around 2235hrs ...


Siew Hiong had already booked a driver for the entire trip and we were pleased that he was awaiting for us well ahead of schedule to pick us up to the hotel.
The hotel that we stayed in was Best Western - Kinabalu Daya Hotel and it was only about 15mins drive from the airport.



As we were not tired we decided to walk around the hotel's vicinity before heading back to rest for the day ...


Woke up at 7am to start the day 1 of the trip with breakfast at the hotel's cafe...


The only thing I was not satisfied was there were very limited choice of food provided by the hotel but it was cheap so I guess I shouldn't expect much.

After breakfast was done we proceed to get ready for our island trip aka Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR) Marine Park while waiting for our driver to pick us up ...


We were drove to Jesselton jetty which was about 15mins away from our hotel ...


From here we discuss the activities we wanted to carry out with the boat man grap our snorkeling kits and proceed to the boat that we hire for the day ...


We are off to our first island drop - Pulau Mamutik ...


This was chosen as our first snorkeling stop as it was the island with the least human presence and fishes was aplenty according to our boatman ...


After snorkeling it was nearly noon hence we proceed to the next island Palau Sapi for our BBQ Buffet lunch ...

This island is also infested with many big moniter lizard with average length of 1meter ...


I started wandering around the island taking pictures ...


We left Palau Sapi at around 1500hrs and proceed to Palau Manukan ...


The island has chalets/resort and many amenities ...


We snorkel and relax along the beach till around 1700hrs before we made our way back to mainland.

After cleaning ourselves back at the hotel we proceed to look for the legendary big big prawn ... We found a seafood resturuant that sell one for 60 Ringgit O_O!!! which was way to expensive according to Sam hence we carried on our search ...

We finally concluded that we should eat at the local seafood market area and the prawn just cost us around 15 Ringgit each =)



I got to eat the BIGGEST BIG BIG PRAWN mwhahaha!!! :X


We went for a leisure walk around the area and proceed back to the hotel carried out our drinking session after buying green tea and tidbits from a nearby supermarket ...


Jack was pretty happy ;p even after being assaulted by Siew Hiong :X

We finally get to rest at around 0200hrs.

After breakfast at 0715hrs at the hotel we head out with our driver at 0800hrs towards Mount Kinabalu National Park ...


We stopped along the way to visit the souvenir shop located near midway of the park...


I was disappointed that the park was merely like a visitor center and we don't get to "climb" the famous mountain =( We went to a nearby Flower garden since it was along the way to our next stop the Hot Spring + Canopy Walk ...



Lunch was arranged by our driver along the way at a small local restaurant managed by Malays which serve Chinese style food ...


When we reached Poring Hot Spring area it began to rain heavily =(


We continue our tedious walked uphill towards the Canopy Walk ...


We took approximately 40mins to complete the walk and make our way back down towards the hot spring area to relax our feet. Along the way Doreen kanna sneak attacked by a leech that hook on to her chest area =( While me and Jack tried to find for lighter and medicated oil, her buddy Siew Hiong use her hand to plug it off O_O!! Respect ;p

We headed back down the mountain park back to the hotel but stopped along the way to take pictures of the majestic Mount Kinabalu again ...


We managed to catch a rainbow too ...


On the way back to the hotel ...


Dinner at a chinese restaurant two blocks away from out hotel ... it was good and cheap :)


While the ladies went to shop at One Borneo Shopping Center, we went for our 2 hour Thai Massage that cost 126 Ringgit each. It was so relaxing that both Sam and Roland slept for a long part of the massage :X

We meet up again with the rest at a Kbox, yes KBox @ The Waterfront area ...


Singing lasted till 2am before we make our way back to finish the remaining drinks.
Jack, Roland, Sam, Peh Lee and I were the chosen personnel for the task and we finished most of the drinks by 4am before heading back to bed.

We skipped the hotel's breakfast and tried out some local dishes for our breakfast ...


We concluded the trip with a walk along the Sunday Flea Market located behind our hotel and made our way to the Airport at around 1030hrs ...


I was hungree so eat again ;p


We boarded the flight TR483 at around 1145hrs and departed at 1205hrs ...


Thank you to everyone whom made this trip possible and I really enjoyed it together with everyone =)

Meet up with Jack and Megane at Bugis at around 10am. Initally we wanted to have our breakfast at Ya Kun but settled on Mac Donald instead. After having breakfast we were joined by Nicole, Alvin and Christopher shortly.


The first stop was the colorful stairway along bugis street ...


Alvin was shooting away at the construction site as well ...


Then we stroll along the road and proceed to the "Street photography" that was the plan. The start point was Bali Street ...


We proceed further eastwards and reached Kampong Glam area ...

Many people were there flying kites as well at the windy roof top ...


We were all pretty tired after standing under the hot sun and decided to have some cool drinks before dinner ...

Streets Cafe at Raffles City was decided venue ...

The drinks were pretty good and cost around 3-4SGD each ...

We started thinking of where we can have a relaxing dinner and rest our tired body ... Kbox Dinner Buffet was finally decided after much discussion ...

From Telok Blangah Hill to Marina Barrage - 20th Jun 2009

Alvin jio me together to meet up with his friend Leon for photo taking at Dempsey as they wanted to capture some pictures to take part in the STB night out contest. However there was a change of plan and we headed to Telok Blangah Hill instead.

The plan now was to take Sunset then head to take night shots of Henderson Wave. However the weather was not in favor of us ... sky was cloudy and rain was imminent.

We took afew pictures of Terrace Garden before leaving for dinner ...

While heading off for dinner ... the usual trio of helicopters for NDP rehearsal flew pass us ... we stopped to salute :X


Dinner at Nan Hua Chang Seafood Restaurant which was famous for their Fish head pot ...



Ma Lai Feng Guang was not bad but abit too salty ...


Coffee Port Ribs was pretty good but 15SGD was too expensive in my opinion ...


The Mackerel Fish Head soup was good stuff ...


We intended to head for Dempsey again after dinner but ended up at Marina Barrage instead ;p



15sec Night Shot turn out to be quite ok ... look well over-exposed in the camera LCD thou ...


My last shot for the night was this 60sec Starry Sky mode on my FX-48 ... look more like dust then stars ;p


We left the place at around 11:45pm and make our way home ...
